SNAP - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
The SNAP program is designed to raise the nutritional levels, extend food buying power and to safeguard the health and well-being among low income households. Depending on your household's situation, you may be required to participate in various work activities to obtain or improve your employment. Each eligible family will receive the Ohio Direction Card to be used to purchase food at participating stores.
MEDICAID
Medicaid is a federal and state funded health program designed to provide medical coverage to low income individuals who are age 65 or older; blind, disabled; pregnant; children under age 21; and members of families who meet all eligibility criteria and the population eligible under the Affordable Care Act. The determination of health program eligibility requires the completion of an application. This program does not require an interview and resources are not considered. Minimal verification is required including income. An application can be obtained by calling 1-800-324-8680
OHIO WORKS FIRST (OWF)
Formally ADC, provides time limited cash assistance to low income families with children under age 18 and low income pregnant women. Individuals receiving OWF are required to participate in work activities. An individualized self-sufficiency contract (SSC) is developed during a scheduled interview to define the participant's obligations to receive benefits. CHILD CARE
Financial assistance with child care expenses is available for children under the age of 13 while parents work or for those parents who are in training. Eligibility is based on the family size and household income using a percentage of the current Federal Poverty Level standard. Child care payments can only be made to Licensed or Certified Child Care providers. The agency is responsible for recruiting and certifying child day care providers. All eligibility for services is determined through an application process. TRANSPORTATION
Non Emergency Transportation (NET) program provides transportation for Medicaid recipients to non-emergent Medicaid providers. The consumer must be eligible for Medicaid to use NET transportation. Transportation is provided to advance scheduled destinations within the county and areas within a 50 mile radius. All transportation appointments are made by the agency with the contracted transportation provider.
